The Chase Post has been swamped with calls and letter from locals claiming to have seen the beast of Cannock Chase.

Do you think the Chase is home to a big cat?

at approx 18.25 this evening my husband and i were driving from rugeley along penkridge bank road towards cannock when half way up the bank some 50 met from the junction by silvertrees we both saw an animal cross in front of us long, lean jet black and much larger than a domestic cat it moved from right to left into the wooded area, we both were amazed and both had the same opinion this could not have been a dog, deer or small cat. i was most interested to read about the finding recently near birches valley.

I have no doubt that there are big cats loose around the British countryside, I even saw one myself once. Kind of.

I was driving along the M57 near Knowsley when I saw a police car on the hard shoulder, lying in front of the car was a large black cat, like a panther. It was very close to the Safari Park, I'm sure it had escaped but unfortunately not got far.
